# Data License

The data included in this repository is sourced from the [International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV)](https://ictv.global/).

The ICTV raw data has been processed and converted into an ontology as part of this repository. The resulting ontology enables computational access, querying, and analysis of the ICTV taxonomy through [OLS interfaces and APIs](https://www.ebi.ac.uk/ols4/ontologies/ictv).

The data is licensed under the [Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0)](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).!

You are free to:
- **Share** — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
- **Adapt** — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially

Under the following terms:
- **Attribution** — You must give appropriate credit to the ICTV, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.

The ICTV data license is based on the licensing terms from ictv.global as of June 2025. Please ensure you provide appropriate attribution when using or redistributing this data.

While the underlying data remains under the [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) license from ICTV, the ontology structure and any additional annotations or transformations performed in this repository should be attributed to this repository. Please cite both ICTV and this repository if you use the ontology in your work.
